Learnıng Goals
At the end of this unit, students will be able to:
- Talk about the relationship between food and culture in Turkey.
- Discuss tea drinking habits and trends in Turkey and compare these habits and trends to those in their own culture.
- Discuss the relationship of food and geography (vs. nationality) as well as that of food and culture.
- Form sentences using the aorist to convey a variety of functions (predictions, promises, requests, etc.).
- Discuss foods that have religious meanings/connotations in Turkey.
- Discuss the effects of religions, beliefs, and traditions on diets/ food.
- Analyze proverbs and sayings that have to do with food and identify the contexts in which they may be used.
- Write a comparative essay about attitudes towards food.
- Write up and present a Turkish recipe.
