Exercise A:

Review the descriptions of the houses mentioned in the readings. In a diagram, list each student’s housing along with the associated descriptions, including the names of the rooms and furniture.

List some structures mentioned in the context of describing a house.  For example,

.يقع بيتي جنوب مدينة لورنس

.تقع شقّتي في الطّابق الرّابع

In a diagram, describe your own house. Include the names of rooms, furniture, and any location details.

Are there any new words you will need to describe your house?

Draft a rough version using the elements you have gathered above. Focus on organizing your thoughts rather than accuracy at this stage. Are there any elements missing?

In groups, provide a brief description of your house. You may also ask questions after your classmates describe their houses briefly.

Exercise B

Review your draft and write an essay on one of the following questions:

هل يمكنك وصف بيتك؟ أين موقعه؟ كم عدد الطوابق التي يتكون منها؟ ما هي الأشياء والأماكن المفضلة بالنسبة لك داخل البيت وخارج البيت؟

Can you describe your house? How many floors does it have? What are your favorite things or places inside and outside the house?

كيف هو بيت أحلامك؟ وكيف يختلف عن المكان الذي تعيش فيه الآن؟

What does your dream house look like, and how is it different from your current house?

أيّ بيت من هذه البيوت يشبه البيت الذي تعيش فيه الآن؟ وأي بيت يختلف كثيراً عن بيتك؟ وكيف يختلف؟

Which house from the readings is similar to the one you live in now? Which house is different from yours, and how are they different?

حصلت على منحة للدراسة في إحدى الدول العربية وانتقلت للسكن هناك.  كيف سيكون بيتك الجديد و كيف يختلف عن بيتك في أمريكا. ما هي الأماكن القريبة من بيتك الجديد؟

You receive a scholarship to study in an Arabic-speaking country and will be moving there. What will your new house be like, and how will it differ from your house in America?
