Writing 3

Exercise A

Outline a diagram highlighting all the activities you engage in as part of your daily routine, including the sequence of times for your activities.

Consider the activities you enjoy for fun and create a list of them.

How does your weekend routine differ from your weekday routine?  List any activities that are unique to your weekends.

Check the reading texts in this chapter and see the context of the following structures and how they were used.  Think about other structures you might need to talk about your daily routine.

  1. أول النّهار/ آخر الليل
  2. يبدأ يومي/ ينتهي صفي
  3. بعد ذلك/ قبل ذلك
  4. قبل الفُطور/ بعد العشاء

Create a table listing the main verbs that describe the daily routine in the present tense alongside the verbs that depict past activities.

Assemble a rough draft made up of the elements you have assembled above. Focus on getting your thoughts in order rather than accuracy at this point.  Are there elements missing?

In groups, briefly talk about your daily routine. Are any special activities your classmates mention that are not part of your routine?
